It's Official: L.A.'s rock band Maroon 5 will be having a concert in the Philippines

After much speculation, it is official. Maroon 5 will be having a concert in the Philippines on March 5, 2008. Maroon 5 is an American rock band originating from Los Angeles, California. Comprising five members: Adam Levine (vocals, guitar), James Valentine (guitar, vocals), Jesse Carmichael (keyboards, vocals), Mickey Madden (bass guitar) and Matt Flynn (drums, percussion), the band is best known for hit songs including "Harder to Breathe", "This Love" and "She Will Be Loved".

Maroon 5 has won several awards for its debut album Songs About Jane. Released in June 2002, the album enjoyed major chart success, going gold, platinum, and triple platinum in many countries around the world.[1] In support of Songs About Jane, Maroon 5 toured extensively throughout 2003 – 2005, in which a live album was released, entitled Live - Friday the 13th. Original member Ryan Dusick left the band in September 2006, due to injuries sustained by the constant touring, and was replaced by Matt Flynn.

After a hiatus from the music scene, Maroon 5 released their second studio album, It Won't Be Soon Before Long in May 2007, five years after Songs About Jane. The second set debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with first week sales of nearly half a million. The album has since gone on to become platinum with 1.6 million albums sold in the United States alone. The band performed in various performances throughout the summer and fall of 2007, including a North American tour with The Hives. They are currently touring with Dashboard Confessional in their world tour and, beginning March 28, 2008, they will tour with OneRepublic, Brandi Carlile, and Ry Cuming.

Maroon 5 will be having a concert on March 5, 2008 at the Araneta Coliseum. They will be the second international act brought to Manila by Viva Concerts and Events following the group "My Chemical Romance" who performed last January 25, 2008 in Taguig.

A project of Viva Concerts and Events, the show, billed Maroon 5 Live in Manila, will feature the band’s hits, including Harder to Breathe, the aforementioned This Love, She Will Be Loved, Sunday Morning and Must Get Out, all from Songs About Jane, the band’s multiplatinum-selling first album.

Also in its repertoire are selections from the band’s second album, It Won’t Be Soon Before Long. If you thought that the singles Makes Me Wonder, Wake Up Call, Won’t Go Home Without You and the upcoming If I Never See Your Face Again.

Maroon 5 has already released a few “live” albums (1.22.03 Acoustic in 2004 and Live — Friday the 13th in 2005) which the band’s fans (Filipinos included) must have played over and over again. But there’s nothing better than listening to them perform live.

Maroon 5 Live in Manila is produced by Viva Concerts and Events and is presented by SMART Buddy with San Miguel Pale Pilsen as major sponsor. Call 911-5555 for tickets and inquiries in the Philippines.
