Glendale, California: Beauty they say is in the eyes of the beholder. But MYPG is different. Benedick Diaz, Alex Cabral, and Henry de Jesus, producers of MYPG 2008 pushes the envelope further. Beauty for them is not only skin deep but also lies within. With that in mind, the Miss Young Philippines Global 2008 was held in Glendale November 10, 2007 to select the Fil-Am's youth Ambassador of goodwill and the role model of the new generation.

The event which started at around 7 p.m. was hosted by Tallulah, one of the newest Fil-Am face on television today. She curently hosts The Filipino Channel's primetime show "SpeakOut - tackling the youth oriented issues that matters most to Fil-Am youth. She is a UC Berkeley graduate and is pursuing her career in TV and Music. (Contact her at tallulah@berkeley.edu).

Co-emcee of the event was Christopher Sean, Ginoon Pilipinas USA 2006 and the current Mr. Asia USA 2007. He hosted Apl De Ap's birthday bash (of the group "Black Eyed Peas") as well as the US Philippine Expo 2006.

Another event judge Mel Franco Reyes delivered a very heartwarming insight in the recipient of the MYPG project, Bantay Bata 163. Mel stated that "supporting Bantay Bata 163 will prevent a lot of parents who are troubled by life's challenges from harming their children. Bantay Bata 163 is a child welfare program of ABS-CBN Foundation that not only rescues sick and abused children, but also rehabilitates families in crisis, livelihood, scholarships, and outreach. In fact, the MYPG 2008 will be aired by ABS-CBN TV. Dr. Tomas Araneta MD from Cebu completes the list of the judges. He is involved in outreach projects for the Mother Theresa Missionary Charity in Tijuana, Mexico.

Working the event were members of the media Lou Sabas, Joe Cobilla, Jess Espanola, Romeo Balboa and yours truly Jay Fermin. A great project for a good cause, the selected Young Ambassadors of MYPG 2008 were not only selected on beauty, but also on inner character, talent, and intelligence. Let's make life better for the next generation.
