Following the unparalleled success of the first three Sine Novelas (Sinasamba Kita, Pati Ba Pintig ng Puso? and Kung Mahawi Man ang Ulap), GMA Pinoy TV brings to light the newest award-winning movie-turned TV series – Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig beginning October 19.
Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig is one of the emotionally-gripping movie masterpieces of the great film director Lino Brocka. This unforgettable 1987 film, starring Megastar Sharon Cuneta, unveiled the story of Lupe, who at a tender age, had to work hard collecting garbage to survive poverty.
Under the guidance of award-winning director Joel Lamangan, Pasan Ko ang Daigdig boasts of a star-studded cast led by today’s most sought-after loveteam and the Philippine’s Princess and Prince of Dramarama - Yasmien Kurdi and JC De Vera. Yasmien plays the role of Lupe Velez, originally played by Sharon in the film, a poor but gifted young lady who works as a scavenger in Payatas. But conflicts in the filthy dumpsite leads Lupe to seek alms while carrying on her back her disabled mother Metring, the character of Loretta Marquez now played on television by multi-awarded actress and director Gina Alajar.
Knowing she has a talent in singing, Lupe promises herself to end her misery by using her gift to become rich. Lupe joins various singing contests where she meets Tony (Polo Ravales), the rich composer who will help Lupe to become a singer.
Reaching for her dreams leads Lupe to set aside her affection for her childhood friend Carding (JC De Vera), a disciplined young man from the grimy slum area of Payatas. Carding, with his innate skills in business, will make his junk shop business flourish. Even if other women admire him, Carding loves no one else but Lupe.
When good opportunities start coming her way, Lupe enjoys the comfortable life she has until a horrifying incident happens to her. How will this affect Lupe’s life? Will it ends her singing career and the comfortable life she has started to enjoy or will it make Lupe even stronger?
Completing the cast of Pasan Ko ang Daigdig are Alessandra de Rossi, Jenine Desiderio, Gary Estrada, Marcu Madrigal, Maureen Larrazabal, Mart Escudero, Jennica Garcia, Tony Mabesa, Jim Pebangco, Sweet Ramos, Raquel Villavicencio and Mr. Dante Rivero.
